The offsets for 2024 were purchased through Ostrom Climate which manages the Great Bear Rainforest Project.
Why We Chose the Great Bear Rainforest Carbon Project
The Great Bear Rainforest represents the world’s largest intact coastal temperate rainforest, spanning 6.4 million hectares along Canada’s west coast. This globally rare ecosystem is home to ancient cedars, towering spruce, grizzly bears, coastal wolves, Pacific salmon, and the iconic Spirit Bear—a white black bear found nowhere else on Earth.
We selected this project because it aligns with our values and operations:
- First Nations Partnership: Returns forest management to the coastal First Nations who partner equally with the Government of BC in this project.
- Forest Conservation: Brings together coastal First Nations, environmental groups, forest companies and governments to implement an Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) approach.
- Coastal Ecosystem: Safeguards the world’s largest intact coastal temperate rainforest and its marine connections.

About Ostrom Climate
All projects of the Great Bear are validated and verified, with over eight million tonnes verified through the BC Carbon Registry to date. [July 2025]
Ostrom was involved in developing the project design documents, ensuring they met all requirements of the BC Carbon Program and FCOP. They provide policy and project admin support to the Nanwakolas and the Great Bear Carbon Credit LP regarding all aspects of the carbon project. Ostrom Climate also acts as marketing and sales agents on the voluntary market.
