Eighty-three containers fall off ship on Australian coast
A cargo ship en route from Taiwan to Sydney, Australia lost 83 containers near Sydney harbour June 1st. The shipping line attributes the event to rough weather and high waves.
In addition to the 83 containers that fell into the sea, another 26 containers were damaged as they collapsed on the ship's deck.
The ship's owner, Yang Ming, said that that there were no dangerous goods or marine pollutants in the containers that fell into the sea, and the vessel's hull was not seriously damaged.
The ship, YM Efficiency, has a capacity of 4250 TEUs was carrying 3,307 TEUs.
