Canadian trucking price index rose almost 3% at the end of last year
Statistics Canada's For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index rose 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2017, following a 0.3% increase in the third quarter. This was the sixth consecutive quarterly gain.
The federal agency says both the general freight trucking (+3.4%) and the specialized freight trucking (+1.9%) components increased.
The index was up 5.7% in the fourth quarter compared with the same quarter of 2016. Both the general freight trucking (+6.7%) and the specialized freight trucking (+3.6%) components rose.
Statistics Canada's For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
