Conductors and locomotive engineers give strike notice to CP Rail

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) which represents some 3000 conductors and locomotive engineers at Canadian Pacific (CP) issued notice of strike to be effective 0001 (EST) April 21, 2018.

The union said it will continue to meet with the CP bargaining committee, with plans to continue through to the deadline, but it intends to walk out if negotiations fail.

In a news release CP said it continues to work closely with the TCRC and made significant movement in bargaining Monday afternoon, presenting the TCRC with new progressive three and five-year agreement options.

The previous collective agreement with CP expired on December 31, 2017. Negotiations began on November 16, 2017, and federal mediators were brought in on January 29, 2018.
