Dumping would resume if duties expired on carbon steel plate from China

In October 2017, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its January 2013 finding concerning the dumping of certain hot rolled carbon steel plate originating in or exported from China. The finding imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of the subject goods.

Following the Tribunal's decision the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and subsidizing of the subject goods.

The CBSA's investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the subject goods to Canada.

The Tribunal will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and will issue its decision by August 9, 2018.
