Vancouver's Deltaport starting container truck staging facility construction on August 21
Construction at the Port of Vancouver's Deltaport truck staging facility is scheduled to start the week of August 21, 2017, with project completion anticipated by the end of 2018.
The Deltaport truck staging facility is one in a series of projects known as the Deltaport Terminal, Road and Rail Improvement Project (DTRRIP).
DTRRIP is needed to help improve the movement of containers in and out of Roberts Bank by a capacity of 600,000 twenty-equivalent unit (TEU) containers, to a total of 2.4 million TEUs per year.
The truck staging facility will improve the efficiency of the multimodal transportation network, decrease the impact of port-destined container truck traffic on the local community by reducing engine idling and congestion, and improve road safety.
According to the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, workers will make every effort to minimize noise, dust, traffic impacts and construction lighting, while maintaining safety for construction and the travelling public at all times.
