Duty reductions for Canada-EFTA FTA and Information Technology Agreement
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) issued a Customs Notice advising that duty rates will be reduced for certain goods on July 1st, 2017.
One set of reductions covers some goods in Chapter 89 of the Customs Tariff (Ships, boats and floating structures) imported under the provisions of the Canada-EFTA Free Trade Agreement (EFTA member countries include Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).
The other reductions are for certain goods covered under the 2016 expansion of the Information Technology Agreement (ITA).
The expanded ITA builds on the original 1996 ITA and aims to eliminate participants' tariffs on additional information and communications technology and related products.
For a list tariff items and applicable rates see Customs Notice 17-21
