March 2, 2010 Company fined for export of hazardous waste without a permit An Ontario corporation was fined $15,000 for apparently attempting to export hazardous waste without a permit. The case is a reminder to all traders of the importance and complexity of compliance.
Of the discovered material, there were approximately 30 skids of broken and non-working computer monitors containing cathode-ray tubes. The exporter pleaded guilty to exporting hazardous waste or hazardous recyclable material without a permit, contrary to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.
